How to add flashing lights to a PowerPoint Presentation?

I'm making a powerpoint for a class project, and at one point it would look really cool to have flashing lights on the slide, because it's an alarm sounding. I've been trying to figure out how to do it for the past hour, and I've came up short.

I was going to just put a lot of slides of the same picture and change their size so it looks like it's flashing, but that got tedious because if one was moved just a little bit it would look off.

I don't care if I have to download something (I don't want to buy anything, though), I just want to figure out how to do this.

Thank you!How to add flashing lights to a PowerPoint Presentation?
It sounds like you already have the ';light'; that you want to have flash. PowerPoint actually includes a flash animation that will solve your problem. It's in the Custom Animation palette...

PowerPoint XP/2003, select the picture of the light, right click on it and select Custom animation to launch the palette.

PowerPoint 2007, select the picture of the light, go to the Animation tab at the top, click on Custom Animation near the left side to launch the animation palette.

From here it's the same for both versions: go to Add Effect at the top of the palette --%26gt; Emphasis --%26gt; Blink (if you don't see it, go to More Effects)

You'll see your picture or shape on the animation list, Double click on it and go to the Timing tab (or right click and select Timing). You can set the speed you want it to flash (you can actually type a number in there if you want to customize that setting), then for how long - sounds like you might want to set the repeat to Until next click or Until end of slide.

Hit OK, then back in the palette, the default will have the animation starting on a mouse click. If you want it to start when you get to the slide, pull down the Start setting and choose With previous.

You can get more complex than that using glows or two different color lights, etc. but I think this is a good simple solution to your problem.

Good luck and start playing around in the animation palette - you won't get hurt ;-) and you'll learn all kinds of great stuff! How to add flashing lights to a PowerPoint Presentation?
You can use the appear and disappear transitions, over and over again, or the size change transition. Just look under ';Custom Animation'; in the toolbar. Good luck!
